The Way to Christ

The Way to Christ Logo

What is the purpose of the class?
The Way to Christ experience is intended to build up a child's educational foundation to help them make spiritual decisions.  Through a student workbook and four classroom sessions, these topics are covered: What does it mean to be a Christian?, Getting to Know God Better, My Church, Baptism, The Lord's Supper, Prayer, More about Jesus and Telling Others about Jesus.

Who attends the class?
The class is for children in the 1st-5th grade who have questions about what it means to be a Christian, or who have recently trusted Christ as their Savior.  The class is a teaching tool to aid in a child’s spiritual development.  It will emphasize spiritual truths that some children may have already grasped.  On the other hand, the child who has just begun to ask spiritual questions may complete the sessions and still not be ready to make a profession of faith.  Children are concrete thinkers and we never want them to believe that they are now Christians because of completing the class.  The Lord's timing is best and it is not wise to rush a child into making a decision before he or she is ready.

When is "The Way to Christ" offered?
There are several sessions offered during the year. Each session consists of 4 one hour classes during the Sunday School hours (8:15 & 9:30 AM) except for session 3 when the classes are 2 hours for two Sundays. If you are interested in having your child attend a session, you may call the Children's Ministry Office at 572-1510.

The class will be offered in 2007 on these Sundays: (choose one session when registering)

Session 1 - 1/21, 1/28, 2/4, 2/11

Session 2 - 4/15, 4/22, 4/29, 5/6

Session 3 - 6/17, 6/24 two hour classes

Session 4 - 9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30

Please Remember...
that this class will not make your child a Christian, and baptism should only follow a salvation decision.  At no time will a child be pressured to make a spiritual decision.  We believe that decisions about salvation and baptism should be made by each child with his or her parent's guidance.  Teachers are there to instruct, guide, and encourage.

    Our Vision...

At First Baptist Clarksville we desire to know Christ through the worship of God, the teaching of the Bible, and the fellowship of believers, so that through the power of the Holy Spirit, we may be like Jesus Christ and make Him known to others, for the glory of God.
